The challenge

DeFi portfolio strategies were hard to use without deep on-chain knowledge. The product had to be correct and fast at the same time: live market data, secure chain interactions, and a UI that stays responsive while those updates arrive.

Collaboration

I joined MC² Finance as a senior software engineer and worked across the Vue.js product and the Node.js and Rust services behind it. My share was the core web app, Ethereum and cross-chain integration, the realtime streams, and the Cypress suite that made the money path safe to change.

From discovery to production

How it was solved

The Vue.js app is the surface. Node.js and Rust split the backend between product APIs and the performance-sensitive, security-sensitive work. Web3 handles Ethereum and cross-chain portfolio operations. Live market and portfolio state arrives over WebSockets and server-sent events so the UI does not poll itself into a stutter. Cypress treats the critical flows as a product feature, not a late check.

Key technical decisions

• 01Node.js and Rust together: Node for the product services, Rust where performance and safety mattered most.
• 02WebSockets and server-sent events for live market and portfolio updates, instead of refreshing the page.
• 03End-to-end tests as part of the product, because a DeFi UI that looks fine and settles wrong is a failure.
